First Cardboard Model

29/3/2020

My first cardboard model of my bedroom. Very experimental, as I had never built with cardboard before and did not have enough material to built it to 1:10 scale. To counter for this I built some paper furniture to ensure the viewer still got a sense of scale. I also experimented with using tape instead of glue, however it looks messy and ruins the illusion of scale, hence I didn't use it again.

Dream House Initial Design Model

29/3/2020

The first design of my dream house included an extension on one side with a chill out space in it. I used paper for this one but strengthened it structurally with cardboard.

2.5d Shapes

This Fusion360 space is inspired by the lounge, study and hallway at my house. It took some time to get used to the software but with enough practice I became better.

Illustrator Laser Cutting Template

29/3/2020

Here's the Fusion 360 work from above laid on on the Illustrator template, ready to be laser cut. The layout of the pieces just about fit in the laser dimensions without having to resize them.

Transitional Space Model: Daytime

5/4/2020

A daytime shot of my 1:20 scale model featuring my bedroom, the study and a hallway. The roof is made of crumpled paper learnt from the folding techniques in week 5, aimed at representing a curved glass roof.

Transitional Space Model: Night

5/4/2020

A night shot of my 1:20 scale model featuring my bedroom, the study and a hallway. The light shining through the roof gives a really interesting effect and represents how this house may look at night when only 1 room has the lights on.

Transitional Space Model: Interior

5/4/2020

An interior shot of my 1:20 scale model taken inside the bedroom. The figure in the photo gives a good impression of scale in the project. Also the additional light source coming from behind the model creates quite a cool effect.

3D Model of Initials

5/4/2020

The Fusion 360 model featuring my initials, J A R. Although it took some time to get the loft feature to work, it eventually produced an interesting looking 3D shape.

Artistic Render of Initials

12/4/2020

The Fusion 360 model with textured rendering to represent my own design ideas. I like the combination of the organic wood material and reflective aluminium gives an interesting juxtaposition.

Render of Dream House Model

12/4/2020

The final rendered model of my dream house. Similar to the initials, it uses a combination of organic materials such as wood and stone, along with industrial materials such as the roof and door frames. Its placed in a natural setting with trees to give a sense of scale to the project.
