100 Word Statement

How size and scale is represented in models

This project examines how models represent size and scale.  A good model should be able to accurately convey the size and scale of space to viewers. An example is week 5’s cardboard model, which includes furniture in the design, representing the size of the room in relation to the bed, conveying the project’s scale. Additionally, the 1:20 model from week 7 uses additional light sources along with a model of a person to give the viewer a better sense of the project’s scale. Lastly, the week 8 Photoshop activity expresses size and scale by using the outside environment in relation to the house. Therefore, it is clear that good models can represent size and scale to viewers.
